Why Join the Credit Union?
Is your financial institution causing you undue frustration? You’re not alone. Complaints against banks are soaring. The complaints are led by a rise in criticisms about unfair charges, loans and overdrafts, now is a great time to join the Credit Union.
The Banking Code Standards Board (BCSB), which oversees a voluntary code of conduct revealed in its annual report that the public is increasingly angry about lending and charges, two areas where banks have come under recent scrutiny by the Office of Fair Trading.
The report shows that complaints about loans and overdrafts accounted for 26% of the total. Challenges relating to bank charges represented 12%. Complaints about credit cards also increased to 17%.

We offer many of the same products and services as a commercial bank but with friendly, personal service. Becoming a member is easy, and we generally offer better rates and terms! Experience the credit union difference for yourself today. Contact the Credit Union to see how you can become a member.
Exercise Your Dormant Accounts
With all the great products and services the Credit Union has to offer, there’s no excuse to let your account sit dormant and inactive. If you haven’t touched your Share Savings Account or Draft Account in a while, chances are your account is inactive or dormant! All financial institutions are required to escheat or send the “unclaimed” funds to the state if there is no activity or contact after a period of 3-5 years.
The Credit Union has a wide variety of products and services to fit your needs. Whether you’re looking for an Auto Loan or a Share Certifi cate, we can help! Stop by or call today; one of our friendly Member Service Representatives will help you figure out how you can get your money out of an inactive state and into a state that works for you.
‘Vishing’ Attacks are Increasing
The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) has warned credit unions that “vishing” attacks are on the rise – scams that use telephone systems to garner confi dential identifi cation information.
As with “phishing” which uses electronic contacts, in vishing crooks claim to be legitimate financial institutions or other entities. They ask consumers to “verify” or “re-submit” personal information such as bank account and credit card numbers, Social Security Numbers, passwords, and personal identifi cation numbers.
NCUA advises that, for their protection, consumers should be “highly suspicious” when receiving messages via telephone, email or otherwise – directing them to call and provide personal, confi dential and/or account related information.
