North Penn FCU and Nice FCU
Merging January 1, 2007
North Penn FCU would like to extend a special welcome to the members of Nice FCU into our Credit Union family. Approval was received from NCUA, Washington, D.C. on November 22, 2006. The merger will be completed the beginning of the new year. We want to extend a friendly welcome to all Nice FCU members and invite them to use the many services available with North Penn FCU.
Direct Deposit Your 2007 Tax Refund
Having your tax return directly deposited into your Credit Union account is quick, easy, convenient, and best of all, FREE! Why wait around for your refund check to be mailed when you can start spending (or saving!) right away?
According to the IRS, a refund check is issued to you within six to eight weeks of filing a paper return.
By choosing to directly deposit your paper-filed refund, it will be received in fi ve to six weeks.
If you choose to E-file AND choose direct deposit for your refund, you should receive it within 14 days!
To have your tax refund directly deposited into your Credit Union account, simply provide your tax preparer with your account number and our routing number, #231980944.
If you choose to E-file, you can always check the status of your refund online at www.irs.gov. To do so, you will need your Social Security number and your fi ling status. Also, remember to keep your year-end credit union statement for tax reporting purposes!
Save Big with Tax Benefits for 2006

If you made energy-conscious purchases during 2006, you’re eligible for tax benefits in 2007.
Check out some of the items that qualify for tax benefits!*
- Insulation systems
- Exterior windows (including skylights)
- Exterior doors
- Metal roofs (meeting applicable Energy Star requirements)
- Solar panels
- Solar water heating systems
You can also receive credit for costs relating to residential energy property expenses:
- $50 for each advanced main air circulating fan
- $150 for each qualifi ed natural gas, propane, or oil furnace or hot water heater
- $300 for each item of qualifi ed energy effi cient property.
When you begin your tax return for 2006, be sure to include all of your possible credits and deductions! For more information, go to www.irs.gov and keyword search Energy Policy Act of 2005.
* Any new, energy-effi cient items must be in service between December 31, 2005 and before January 1, 2008. Be sure to save your receipts. In order to qualify, components must meet the criteria set in the 2000 Energy Conservation Code and must be installed in your main home in the United States. The maximum credit for all taxable years is $500, and no more than $200 of the credit can be attributable to expenses for windows.

- We partner only with businesses that follow strict confi dentiality requirements. The businesses we select must offer products designed to enhance our members’ economic well-being. Under no circumstances do we authorize these fi rms to charge your account without your express consent, nor do we sell member information to telemarketing fi rms.
- You have a choice in how your information is used. Any member of this Credit Union may elect to keep information from being shared with our business partners. We will take all reasonable steps to make sure your requests are followed.
E-mail information provided by members and nonmembers is used to respond to inquiries, comments, or suggestions. This information also may be retained to provide members with timely information concerning products or services at the Credit Union. It is never sold, given, or disclosed to third parties not affi liated with the Credit Union.
Stepping Up Your Financial Security
Important Information Regarding Home Banking
North Penn Federal Credit Union has stepped up its protection of our online banking system! We now offer two-factor authentication to help our members protect their assets and confi dential information. This process requires users to enter two forms of identifi cation to be granted access to their confi dential information. For example, you will be asked for both your password and a new Confi dence Word.
With identity theft on the rise, this process makes it more diffi cult for hackers to gain a foothold into your accounts. It provides additional security to online banking services and the newest technology to protect your information. The security feature is just another way NPFCU provides you with the credit union difference.
